Lucius Selig's Long Lost List of Essential Movies

The following excerpt comes from a collection of newly discovered pages belonging to the journal of Lucius Selig. 

It is unclear why these pages were torn out, as the content seems frivolous. Yet, Lucius always advocated the idea of creating new worlds. It’s possible that Lucius knew these days were coming and therefore knew the limitations that face us all at this moment in spacetime. It is with an open mind, then, that we choose to share with you Lucius Selig’s Long Lost List of Essential Movies.

Astral projection? Harnessing the Power of Positive Mechanics? Being exposed to that amount of energy can be exhausting, let alone utilizing it to create new worlds. Sometimes, even I — “Master Lucius” — just want to sit at home all weekend watching movies and doing absolutely nothing. Is that so wrong? Should I write a new chapter about maintaining a healthy Sphere of Influence through the power of popcorn and burrito-ing in a blanket? Sometimes heaven is a place you create for yourself among the stars...sometimes it’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day. 

Okay, this is never going to make it into the book and no one will ever see this, but just in case the reality of the world becomes one massive mundanity, here they are...Lucius Selig’s Essential Movies:

The Master (2012) - Paul Thomas Anderson, the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman, and a set of practices regarding the metaphysical relationship between the mind and body that results in an enigmatic movement of people who may or may not be following a complete charlatan? Sign me up!

Donnie Darko (2001) - Six words…”Have you ever seen a portal?” Then you’ve got the wormholes, time travel, Roberta Sparrow, and Sparkle Motion. It’s a “Mad World” indeed.

Interstellar (2014) - I mean, I’ve already discovered countless new homes for humanity and I didn’t need any wormholes, but I find the idea of a post-truth society to be more and more relevant as the years go by. I could even see us getting there by, say, 2020?

Escape to Witch Mountain (1975) - Nothing reminds me of my childhood like a tale of two siblings with extraordinary psychic abilities. "You're nothing but a pair of undersized land pirates!"

The Wicker Man (1973) - I don’t know if I’d go as far as calling it “The Citizen Kane of horror movies,” but what do I know? Sects sell!

Groundhog Day (1993) - One of the great horror movies of all time masquerading as a fantasy comedy. Getting caught in a time loop? No thanks! Still, thoroughly entertaining and I’m on board with anything involving Stephen Tobolowsky.

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) - A movie without an obvious villain? Talk about Positive Mechanics! Also, time travel and whale songs? Two thumbs up.

Primer (2004) - A wonderful introduction to Feynman diagrams and the Meissner effect. Plus I’m naturally a fan of any movie that has a cult following.

Airborne (1993) - They don’t all have to be about traveling to other dimensions or weird cults, right? Can’t a guy just recommend a movie that’s entirely about Rollerblading?

Night of the Hell Hamsters (2006) -  Nimsesku loved this movie. Sorry, he loves this movie. That was weird.

So, that’s it. Oh, wait! What am I thinking? If you really want to have your mind bent by pure VHS goodness, The Power of Positive Mechanics: A Roadmap to Your Spirit Home is the best way to achieve enlightenment and prosperity in 70 minutes.
